Well well well!!! Took a drive to Ashtons on a Saturday evening booked a table on open table got it no problem! I’ll try keep this short and sweet! Elaine was our hostess/server and she’s class all the time in the world for People and Great at explaining the menus and also for a tour or the place lol (it’s surprisingly big) Christy Browne art etc!
The Steak is “unreal” 30oz Cote de Boeuf for two is up with the best in Ireland if not the best! I’ll wager anyone on that!
I’ve travelled the world ate steak every where and I’ll put this up there with the very best!! as for the Connemara oysters wow!!
You’ll see the steaks aged in the glass fridge and see it cooked in the open kitchen the chefs are great craic too!
This place is tops all I can say is FX Buckley move over!!!
Just check this place out!
Bar was packed with a great vibe it’s all good in Ashtons.
I’ll be back and back again thanks gang!!

I had or tasted
- ricotta and beetroot salad, needed more beetroot and less ricotta, also more seasoning.
- scallops, perfect, melt in the mouth texture (also tiny), very savoury sauce.
- steak, beautiful, this is what they are known for
- creamed leeks, lovely, maybe a tad too much black pepper
- mash, gorgeous
- chips, very nice
- sticky toffee pudding, disappointing, sponge was hard at the edges, difficult to get the spoon through even in the middle and the sauce was too dark and heavy for me.

Cost included drinks and tip.

Response from the owner

Hi there,

Thank you for the lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed your meal and got to try our famous steak and tender scallops! However we're sorry to hear that our sticky toffee wasn't up to par the night you visited – that's definitely not our standard and we're looking into what went wrong so that it doesn't happen again.

Hope to see you back again soon (for a tasty dessert too this time – we promise!)

Kind Regards,
The Ashton's Team

My friends and I were so looking forward to our Sunday lunch at Ashton’s newly renovated Gastro pub . But we were sorely disappointed ! 4 Sunday roasts €34 and 1 monkfish on the bone €36 . Service was friendly but food was terrible. The monkfish yielded 2 mouthfuls and the roast beef dinner was jaw dropping downright awful. Yorkshire puddings were burnt and inedible ( check photos ) ref was so tough and served almost cold . Veg a disgrace and I meagre gravy also was cold after we had to as fir it 3 times and no horseradish sauce . They ran out out ! Empty pepper mill on table and it eventually arrived when we had decided this was not a meal to be consumed any further . Bill including a nice bottle of wine and 2 beers came to €261 . After a bringing all our issues to managers attention she apologized citing teething problems and when we next returned she would look after us with a complimentary drink !!! Out of the place I thought we would never get and guess what ? We certainly will not be back !

AVOID! Unless you like your Sunday Roast with more fat and grizzle than meat! The Dublin food scene, with a few exceptions, is ordinary at best and Ashton’s is yet another example that fits that mold. Serving food like this shows zero pride and highlights an unprofessional chef/kitchen staff.
